Munich (dpa) – World Cup winning defender Jerome Boateng trained with Bayern Munich Tuesday and was part of the group which flew to Spain for the Champions League semi-final with Atletico Madrid.
Boateng has been absent from the team since suffering a groin muscle tear in January but could now return to the squad for Wednesday’s first-leg.
«I am ready but I don’t know for how long,» Boateng said before departure. «I will give everything if I’m on the pitch. I hope that I can help the team.»
Other than the recovering Arjen Robben and Holger Badstuber, departing coach Pep Guardiola has a healthy group of players to choose from as he seeks to reach a first Champions League final with Bayern in his final season in charge.
