Berlin (dpa) – German Bundesliga club Schalke have confirmed the
signing of Switzerland’s 19-year-old striker Breel Embolo from Basel.
Embolo has signed a five-year contract, the club said Sunday.
The clubs have not given details of the transfer sum, which German
media reports put at between 20 and 25 million euros (27.8 million
dollars).
Embolo featured in all four of Switzerland’s matches at Euro 2016 in
France, and has a total of 14 caps. Switzerland went out on penalties
to Poland in St Etienne on Saturday.
Schalke have also extended defender Sascha Riether’s contract by
another year to the end of June 2017
