SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana, 17 de noviembre de 2020.- La Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe (Centro Caribe Sports) ha recibido la solicitud de dos ciudades para albergar los XXIV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de 2022.
La información fue dada a conocer por Luis Mejía (DOM), presidente del organismo deportivo regional, este lunes 16 de noviembre.
Centro Caribe Sports recibió hasta el 15 del presente mes, fecha límite, las solicitudes de las ciudades de Mayagüez, Puerto Rico y San Salvador, El Salvador, con el interés de montar los XXIV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe a efectuarse en el 2022.
El presidente Mejía informó la designación temporal de Jimena Saldaña (MEX), primera vice presidenta de la organización, como Presidenta de la Comisión de Futuras Sedes, en razón de que la titular, Sara Rosario (PUR), presidenta del Comité Olímpico de Puerto Rico, tiene una postulación a través de la ciudad de Mayagüez.
El organismo deportivo regional abrió el proceso de postulación a los países miembros el pasado 1 de septiembre hasta el 15 de noviembre, luego de que Panamá desistiera del montaje de los mismos en julio pasado.
En el curso de esta semana, la Comisión de Futuras Sedes iniciará la evaluación a las ciudades postulantes para presentar un primer informe al Comité Ejecutivo de Centro Caribe Sports el próximo sábado, 21 de noviembre, en horas de la tarde.

ENGLISH Puerto Rico and El Salvador request venue for the Central American and Caribbean Games of 2022
SANTO DOMINGO, November 17, 2020.- The Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (Centro Caribe Sports) has received a request from two cities to host the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games in 2022.
The information was released by Luis Mejia (DOM), President of the regional sports organism, this Monday, November 16.
Centro Caribe Sports received until the 15th of this month, the deadline, the applications from the cities of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and San Salvador, El Salvador, with the interest of mounting the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in 2022.
President Mejia reported the temporary appointment of Jimena Saldaña (MEX), 1st Vice-President of the organization, as President of the Future Venues Commission, on the grounds that the incumbent, Sara Rosario (PUR), President of the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee, has an application through the city of Mayaguez.
The regional sports organism opened the application process to their member countries on September 1 until November 15, after Panama withdrew their commitment to assemble the Games last July.
During the course of this week, the Future Venues Commission will begin the evaluation of the applicant cities to present a first report to the Executive Committee of Centro Caribe Sports next Saturday, November 21, in the afternoon.
