Durante los próximos Juegos Panamericanos a realizarse en la ciudad de Lima en 2027, los deportes del Bowling y el Ráquetbol formarán parte del programa de competición, una vez que fuera aprobada su inclusión, en el marco de la Asamblea General de Panam Sports que se está realizando en la ciudad de Asunción, como parte de las actividades previas a los II Juegos Panamericanos Junior a inaugurarse este próximo sábado 9 de agosto.
Con estas dos modalidades deportivas, serán 38 el número de deportes que se darán cita en la máxima justa deportiva del continente a realizarse en Lima, la capital de Perú, en el año 2027.
La ratificación de estos deportes fue anunciada en la LXIII Asamblea General de Panam Sports en Asunción del Paraguay, evento que contó con la presencia del presidente de la República de ese país, Santiago Peña Palacios, el vicepresidente del COI, Gerardo Werthein, el Presidente de Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, y las máximas autoridades del deporte del continente.
“Por solicitud de muchos Comités Olímpicos Nacionales y por lo que representan estos deportes en nuestro continente, es que el Comité Ejecutivo de Panam Sports, y con la aprobación de la Asamblea General, ha decido incluir el bowling y el ráquetbol en el programa deportivo de Lima 2027. Con esto, ya son 38 deportes que se desarrollarán en nuestros Juegos en la capital del Perú” , señaló el Presidente de Panam Sports Neven Ilic.
Cabe destacar que tanto el Bowling como el Ráquetbol estarían participando juntos en el programa por quinta vez consecutiva desde los Juegos de Guadalajara en 2011.
El ráquetbol ha sido parte de los Juegos Panamericanos desde los Juegos de Mar del Plata, Argentina en 1995, aunque no fue incluido en los Juegos de Río 2007.
El Bowling fue admitido en los Juegos Panamericanos desde la décima primera edición que se celebró en La Habana, Cuba en 1991. Este deporte se realizó por primera vez en los Juegos Panamericanos de Caracas en 1983, sólo como deporte de exhibición.

La Asamblea General de Panam Sports continúa este viernes 8 de agosto, jornada que contará con la presentación del Comité Organizador de la ciudad sede de los próximos Juegos Panamericanos de Lima 2027 y de las ciudades candidatas para los Juegos Panamericanos del 2031, Asunción y Rio-Niteroi.
Los Juegos Panamericanos Junior ASU2025 se desarrollarán entres el 9 y el 23 de agosto del presente año y contarán con la participación de más de 4000 atletas de 41 países.
BOWLING AND RACQUETBALL ENTER THE LIMA 2027 SPORTS PROGRAM
During the upcoming Pan American Games to be held in Lima in 2027, bowling and racquetball will be part of the competition program, following approval by the Panam Sports General Assembly that is currently taking place in Asuncion, as part of the activities leading up to the II Junior Pan American Games, which will begin on Saturday, August 9.
With these two sports, there will be 38 sports in the continent’s premier sport event, to be held in Lima, the capital of Peru, in 2027.
The ratification of these sports was announced at the LXIII Panam Sports General Assembly in Asuncion, Paraguay, an event attended by the president of the country, Santiago Peña Palacios, IOC vice president Gerardo Werthein, Panam Sports President Neven Ilic, and the continent’s top sports authorities.
«At the request of many National Olympic Committees and because of what these sports represent for our continent, the Panam Sports Executive Board, with the approval of the General Assembly, has decided to include bowling and racquetball in the Lima 2027 sports program. With this, there are now 38 sports that will be held at our Games in the capital of Peru,» said Panam Sports President Neven Ilic.
It should be noted that both bowling and racquetball will be part of the program for the fifth consecutive time since the Guadalajara Games in 2011.
Racquetball has been part of the Pan American Games since the Mar del Plata Games in Argentina in 1995, although it was not included in the Rio 2007 Games.
Bowling was admitted to the Pan American Games since the eleventh edition held in Havana, Cuba in 1991. This sport was first held at the Pan American Games in Caracas in 1983, as an exhibition sport only.

The Panam Sports General Assembly continues on Friday, August 8, with presentations by the Organizing Committee of the host city for the next Pan American Games in Lima in 2027 and the candidate cities for the 2031 Pan American Games, Asuncion and Rio-Niteroi.
The ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games will take place on August 9th to the 23rd, 2025, and will feature the participation of more than 4,000 athletes from 41 countries.
