LAUSANNE, October 20, 2026 – For the ninth consecutive year, the AIPS Sport Media Awards have begun their search for the best sports storytellers around the world.
It only takes a few easy steps to join this incredible celebration, which promotes sports media excellence and stands up for journalism against the threats it faces. Submissions are open until 4 November 2026.
If you haven’t submitted yet, here’s how to join.
1. Create an account at aipsawards.com/sma/register.
2. Log in at aipsawards.com/sma.
3. Complete your profile. Fill in the information under My Profile.
4. Click Add Submissions and complete Part 1, Your Submission. Select the Category and, where applicable, the Sub Category. If the Sub Category dropdown does not appear, refresh the page.
5. Describe your work. Enter the title and describe your submission in fewer than 1,000 characters. Explain its relevance, any difficulties you faced and its impact.
6. Upload your work. Complete Part 2, Files and Data. Depending on the category, provide a link, upload a file, or do both. Writing entries should be submitted as PDF or Word files, photography as JPG, and video and audio entries as the relevant media files. Links are accepted unless the content is behind a paywall. If it is, upload a PDF of the full article.
7. Specify the language. Indicate whether your submission is in English. If it is not, specify the language. Works in any language are accepted. An English translation is advisable but not compulsory, except where required for audio or video submissions.
8. Provide publication details. Specify the media outlet and publication date. Social media content is also accepted if it complies with the rules. The work must have first been published or broadcast between 5 November 2025 and 4 November 2026.
9. Indicate whether the publication date is visible in the submitted file or link.
10. Use the separate area to provide proof of publication, such as a PDF, magazine cover or screenshots. For audio or video works in a language other than English, also provide an English translation or transcript.
11. Submit your work when you are ready. You can go to My Submissions to make changes. You can delete, add or edit submissions at any time before the deadline.
Please note: If your first submission is in the Young Reporter category, your second submission must be in Writing, Photography, Video or Audio. Each participant may submit only one Young Reporter entry.
To submit a second work, go to Add Submissions and repeat the process.
Participation is free of charge. All journalists, photographers and videographers are eligible.
