AIPS America set to make formal request for Colombia to host AIPS Congress

BUCARAMANGA, November 26, 2023 – The curtain has fallen on the Summit of Sports Journalists of America but AIPS America, the entity that brings together the continent’s sports journalists, will continue to consolidate its position as one of the most active affiliates of this decade. The president, Carlos Julio Castellanos, made this declaration during the celebration of the 40 years of AIPS America, formerly Fepeda, as part of the Summit that took place in Bucaramanga from November 23-24.

COLOMBIA INTENDS TO HOST AIPS CONGRESS With the endorsement of Acord Colombia, supported by its own president Fáiver Hoyos, Colombia will bid to host the 2026 global AIPS Congress where representatives from at least 120 countries are expected, which would set a historic record for such events in the country. The city being put forward to organise the Congress Cartagena, with the Convention Centre as a place for deliberations.

The formal request will be raised next year during the Congress that is part of the celebration of AIPS centenary in Santa Susanna, Spain. This initiative was applauded by the members of the executive committee of AIPS America, who met in Bucaramanga.
