Buenos Aires, 17 de julio de 2014.- El periodismo argentino se encuentra de luto. A pesar de la alegría de haber obtenido un meritorio segundo puesto en la Copa del Mundo FIFA, el mundo del periodismo en la Argentina aún se encuentra consternado por el fallecimiento de la hija de un reconocido comentarista y un joven periodista; ambos en accidentes de tránsito en Brasil.

La primera víctima fue María Soledad Fernández, hija del comentarista de la TV Pública Argentina Miguel “Tití” Fernández. Soledad tenía tan solo 26 años y volvía a Belo Horizonte luego del partido disputado en San Pablo, en que Argentina venció a Suiza por los octavos de final.

La hija del comentarista viajaba por el kilómetro 619 de la ruta BR-381, a la altura de Oliveira (a 158 km de Belo Horizonte), junto a los productores periodísticos Fernando Bruno y Juan Daniel Berazategui, cuando la camioneta que manejaba Bruno fue golpeada de atrás por un Volkswagen Golf en el que circulaban dos personas y que luego se dio a la fuga.

Como consecuencia del impacto, la camioneta se despistó y Soledad fue despedida del vehículo perdiendo la vida de manera inmediata. Por su parte, los dos productores argentinos solo tuvieron heridas leves ya que iban atados con sus cinturones de seguridad.

Argentina no terminaba el duelo por la muerte de Soledad cuando se conoció la noticia de otra tragedia. El joven periodista Jorge “Topo” López era victima casual de un accidente de tránsito en San Pablo cuando el taxi que lo trasladaba era embestido de costado por un vehículo robado por tres delincuentes, dos de ellos adolescentes.

El vehículo robado chocó el taxi en el cruce de la avenida Tiradentes y la calle Barao de Mauá, cuando escapaba de la policía pasada la 1:00 de la madrugada del 9 de julio, día en que la selección argentina vencería luego por penales a Holanda.

El “Topo” López tenía 38 años y era corresponsal del diario AS de España y enviado especial al mundial del Diario Olé y Radio La Red de Argentina. Su esposa, la periodista del Diario Marca de España, Verónica Brunati, se enteró del fallecimiento de su marido a través de mensajes de Twitter; entre ellos, uno del entrenador del Atlético de Madrid “Cholo” Simeone: “No sólo se fue un gran periodista, se fue también un amigo. Mucho dolor. Mis condolencias a @verobrunati y familia. DEP Jorge ‘Topo’ López».

López era muy amigo de Lionel Messi, ya que prácticamente llegaron juntos a instalarse en la ciudad de Barcelona y formaron una relación que excedió largamente el ámbito profesional, a tal punto que el 10 le dedicó el pase a la final con estas palabras: «Un abrazo grande a toda la Argentina y un recuerdo muy especial para Jorge ‘Topo’ López, esta victoria va especialmente también por vos, amigo. Un abrazo muy grande a la familia, mucho ánimo».

Otras personalidades del deporte también se despidieron del Topo a través de la red social Twitter.

Diario Olé: “En Olé estamos de luto, shockeados por la muerte de nuestro amigo, compañero y gran periodista el Topo López. Mucha tristeza, mucho dolor”.

Radio La Red: “Debido al fallecimiento de nuestro compañero Jorge “Topo” López en un trágico accidente automovilístico mientras cubría periodísticamente la Copa del Mundo de Brasil queremos mandarle un saludo y fuerte abrazo a la familia del “Topo” y comunicamos que todos los que hacemos radio La Red estamos conmovidos y en duelo”.

A subchampionship and two funerals

Buenos Aires, July 7, 2014.- The Argentine journalism is in mourning. Despite the joy of having achieved a creditable second place in the FIFA World Cup, the world of journalism in Argentina is still shocked by the death of the daughter of a renowned commentator and a young journalist; both in traffic accidents in Brazil.

The first victim was María Soledad Fernández, daughter of the Public TV commentator argentina Miguel «Titi» Fernández. Soledad was only 26 years and when returned to Belo Horizonte after the match played in San Pablo, where Argentina beat Switzerland for the knockout stages.

The daughter of the commenter traveled the kilometer 619 of the BR-381 route, at the height of Oliveira (158 km from Belo Horizonte) , along with journalistic producers Fernando Bruno and Juan Daniel Berazategui when the pickup driven by Bruno was beaten from behind by a Volkswagen Golf in that were circulating two people and then fled.

Argentina not finished mourning by the death of Soledad when news of another tragedy was heard. The young journalist Jorge «Topo» López was a casual victim of a traffic accident in San Pablo when the taxi carrying him was rammed by a side for a stolen vehicle, driven by three offenders, two of them teenagers.

The stolen vehicle crashed taxi at the junction of the Tiradentes Avenue and Barao de Mauá, while fleeing police past 1am July 9, the day after the Argentina team would beat Holland on penalties.

The Topo López was 38 and was a correspondent for the newspaper in Spain AS and special envoy to the World Cup of Journal Olé and Radio La Red in Argentina. His wife, Journal reporter Mark of Spain Verónica Brunati, learned of the death of her husband through Twitter messages; including one of the coach of Atletico Madrid «Cholo» Simeone: «Not only a great journalist he was, he was also a friend. Much pain. My condolences to @ verobrunati and family. DEP Jorge ‘Topo’ López».

López was a close friend of Lionel Messi since virtually came together to settle in the city of Barcelona and formed a relationship that far exceeded the professional field, to the point that 10 he dedicated the pass to the final with these words: «A big hug to all Argentina and a very special memory for Jorge ‘Topo’ López, this victory goes especially well for you, friend. A big hug to the family, lots of encouragement».
