Veracruz, México, 14 de noviembre de 2014.- Los 90 años de la fundación de la Asociación Internacional de la Prensa Deportiva (AIPS, por sus siglas en francés) fueron destacados en el contexto de los XXII Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, que se inauguran este viernes en el caribeño estado mexicano de Veracruz.

El acto se suma a los muchos otros que en distintas partes de América han tenido lugar a partir del mes de agosto para conmemorar la creación en París, del 1 al 3 de julio de 1924, de la única asociación gremial que desde entonces ha aglutinado a los periodistas deportivos del planeta.

La sala de conferencias del Centro Principal de Prensa de los Juegos sirvió de escenario para la conmemoración, presidida por Enrique Montesinos, primer vicepresidente de AIPS América; Moisés Ávalos, vicepresidente para la zona Norte-Centroamericana y del Caribe; así como por Carlos Uriarte, jefe de medios de la Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe (Odecabe), y Darío Flores, presidente de Crodever (Cronistas Deportivos de Veracruz).

En su intervención, Montesinos se refirió a las coincidencias históricas entre la AIPS y los Juegos Centroamericanos, cuya carta fundamental que les dio origen fue aprobada también en París, en el marco de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1924, el 4 de julio, al día siguiente de terminar el congreso fundacional de los periodistas.

También recordó que el capítulo de América, hoy conocido como AIPS América, salió a la luz durante la reunión que los periodistas deportivos escenificaron en La Habana, Cuba, durante los XIV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, en 1982. Allí se le denominó Federación Latinoamericana, mientras que en México, en 1985, cambió el nombre para Federación de Periodistas Deportivos de América, FEPEDA, cuya vigencia abarcó hasta el año 2011, cuando comenzó la denominación actual.

Montesinos enumeró, en apretada síntesis, todas las ventajas derivadas de ser miembro de la organización periodística e hizo llegar a todos los presentes el saludo de Gabriel Cazenave, presidente de AIPS América.

Moisés Ávalos se refirió a las actividades que el gremio realiza en la zona de su vicepresidencia, destacando algunas de ellas como los seminarios internacionales, proyectos académicos y sin dejar de mencionar que todos los integrantes de la directiva de AIPS América son periodistas en activo debido a lo cual se les facilitan las tareas de la organización, aunque tengan que emplear su tiempo libre para ello.

Carlos Uriarte, explicó que asistía en representación de Héctor Cardona, presidente de la Odecabe, impedido de asistir a último momento por otro compromiso de trabajo en la antesala de la inauguración de los XXII Juegos regionales. Enfatizó en el apoyo permanente de Odecabe a la AIPS y propuso respaldar la celebración de un Congreso en ocasión de los próximos Juegos fijados para la colombiana Barranquilla, en el 2018.

Darío Flores, por su parte, dio la bienvenida a todos los asistentes y representó no solo a los periodistas del estado veracruceño, sino también a todos los de México agrupados en la Femecrode (Federación Mexicana de Periodistas Deportivos), que preside Andrés Guevara Montiel, también tesorero de AIPS América, quien no pudo estar presente.

Agradeció al fraterno Giovanni Morón, jefe de prensa de Veracruz 2014, no solo haber conducido la actividad micrófono en mano, más también todo el apoyo logístico para la celebración de la actividad. Igual agradecimiento para el Instituto Veracruzano del Deporte, gracias al cual pudimos efectuar un brindis colectivo por los 90 años de AIPS.

Veracruz, Mexico, November 14, 2014.- The 90th anniversary of the founding of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS, for its acronym in French) was highlighted in the context of the XXII Central American and Caribbean Sports Games, which were opened this Friday in the caribbean mexican state of Veracruz.

The act adds to the many others that in different parts of America have taken place from August to commemorate the establishment in Paris, 1 to 3 July 1924, of the only guild association which since then has agglutinated to sports journalists of the planet.

The conference room at the Main Press Center of the Games was the setting for the celebration, presided by Enrique Montesinos, first vice president of AIPS America; Moisés Avalos, vice president for North American and Caribbean region; as well as by Carlos Uriarte, head of media of the Central America and Caribbean Sport Organization (Odecabe) and Dario Flores, president of Crodever (Sport Chroniclers of Veracruz).

In his speech, Montesinos referred to the historical coincidences between AIPS and the Central American Games, whose founding charter that gave them rise was also adopted in Paris, as part of the 1924 Olympic Games, on July 4, the next day of finish the founding congress of the journalists.

He also remembered that to chapter of America, now known as AIPS America, came to light during the meeting that the sports journalists staged in La Habana, Cuba, during the XIV Central American and Caribbean Games in 1982. There, it was named Latin American Federation, while in Mexico, in 1985, changed the name to Federation of Sports Journalists of America, FEPEDA, whose validity spanned until 2011, when began the current denomination.

Montesinos has listed, briefly, all the advantages of being a member of the journalistic organization and told to all present the greeting of Gabriel Cazenave, President of AIPS America.

Moisés Avalos spoke about the activities that the guild made in the area of his vice presidency, highlighting some of them as international seminars, academic projects and without let to mention that all members of the board of AIPS America are active journalists, so are easier for them the tasks of the organization, even if they must use their free time for it.

Carlos Uriarte said that he was attending on behalf of Héctor Cardona, president of the Odecabe, that was unable to attend at the last minute by another work commitment on the threshold of the opening of the XXII Regional Games. He emphasized in the permanent support of Odecabe to the AIPS and proposed support for the celebration of an Congress on the occasion of the upcoming Games laid down for the colombian Barranquilla, in 2018.

Dario Flores, meanwhile, welcomed all attendees and represented not only to the journalists of the veracruceño state, but also to all of Mexico grouped in Femecrode (Mexican Federation of Sports Journalists), chaired by Andres Guevara Montiel, also treasurer of AIPS America, who could not be present.
