TIJUANA, México, 30 de diciembre de 2015.- Saúl Castro Verdugo, primer vicepresidente ejecutivo de la Confederación Norceca fue incluido en el Paseo de la Fama de Tijuana.

Dicho paseo que a reúne los personajes distinguidos en diferente ámbitos, tuvo su ceremonia de entronización en el Palacio Municipal de la ciudad fronteriza, donde también se distinguió como miembros de la galería de celebridades por primera vez a residentes de la Ciudad de San Diego que han contribuido al desarrollo de la región.

«Hace 25 años llegué a esta ciudad de Tijuana, la cual me dio la oportunidad de iniciarme en mi carrera y profesión dentro de la administración y organización deportiva», recordó el dirigente originario de Ensenada y egresado de la Facultad de Organización Deportiva de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León y cuenta con una Maestría en Ciencias, cursada en Alemania.

«Este es un reconocimiento de la gente y la comunidad de Tijuana y lo quiero compartir con mi familia, la cual me ha inspirado y está aquí presente», indicó Castro Verdugo, quien también funge como Director General del Instituto del Deporte y la Cultura Física de Baja California.

En el ámbito deportivo, , se ha convertido en una entidad transformadora y como agente de cambio. En esta región nació la Copa Panamericana de Voleibol tanto en su rama femenil como la varonil hace ya más de una década.

También se encuentran otros proyectos como el Programa de Talentos Deportivos y la certificación del Centro de Alto Rendimiento por parte del Comité Olímpico Mexicano al igual que por parte de la Federación Internacional de Voleibol (FIVB) y la Confederación Norte, Centroamericana y del Caribe.

A raíz de este vínculo con la FIVB y la Norceca, se consolidó el establecimiento del Centro de Desarrollo de Voleibol, el cual fomenta la formación y preparación constante de entrenadores en este deporte a nivel internacional, al realizarse congresos y cursos de actualización de manera constante.

Junto con Castro Verdugo fueron reconocidas otras personalidades, entre ellas la Directora Editorial de la prestigiada revista Harpers Bazaar, Brenda Díaz de La Vega y el artista plástico Enrique Ciapara.

De igual forma se distinguió al empresario y filántropo Enrique Gamboa, del Club de Niños y Niñas de México; los empresarios norteamericanos Malind Burham y James Clark, al igual que el actual Director Ejecutivo de la Cámara de Comercio de San Diego, Jerry Sanders.

También fueron incluidos el médico José Honold, quien es director del Children’s Hospital en San Diego; el bailarín Alejandro Moreno Lagarda, actualmente becado por la Academia Real de Ballet de Inglaterra y l Directora General del Museo de Arte de San Diego, Roxana Velázquez.

La ceremonia estuvo encabezada por el Presidente Municipal de Tijuana, Jorge Astiazarán, y por representantes de la Organización «Tijuana Innovadora», la cual es dirigida por el empresario José Galicot Behar.

Castro Verdugo, enshrined in to the Tijuana Walk of Fame

TIJUANA, Mexico, December 30, 2015 – Norceca First Executive Vice President, Saul Castro Verdugo was included in the Tijuana Walk of Fame.

During the celebration that took part at the Tijuana City Hall, several celebrities in different fields like Business, Arts, Medicine, Philantropy and Sports, were distinguished by the Tijuana Innovadora Association.

Also for the First Time, this organization recognized the efforts of the people of San Diego, USA, due to the binational relationship between both cities that has contributed to the development of the border region.

«I was born in Ensenada. 25 years ago I arrived to this city of Tijuana which gave me the opportunity to start my career and profession within the administration and sports organization,» said Castro Verdugo who is also the General Director of the Baja California Sports and Physical Culture Institute.

The Norceca and FIVB Vice Pgraduated from the Sports Organization Faculty of Nuevo Leon University and holds a Master of Science in Alemania.

«This is a recognition of the people and the community of Tijuana and I want to share it with my family, which has inspired me and all of them are present here «, he said.

The Baja California Sports and Physical Culture Institute has become a transforming entity and as an agent of change by different projects. Some events like the Men’s Women’s Pan American Cup were born in this region more than a decade ago.

Along with that project there are the Sports Talent Program, and the certification of the High Performance Center by the Mexican Olympic Committee as well by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the Norceca Confederation.

At te same time, the ties with both Norceca and FIVB established the creation of a new regional development center, that promotes training and ongoing preparation of coaches at the international level.

Along with Castro Verdugo, some other personalities were recognized such as Brenda Diaz, who is the Editorial Director of Harpers Bazaar Magazine and the artist Enrique Ciapara.

Also businessman and philanthropist Enrique Gamboa, was among the members of the group after his contributions to create the the first Boys and Girls Club in Mexico.

American businessmen James Clark and Malind Burham along with the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce of San Diego, Jerry Sanders, were also part of the enshinees along with

Jose Honold, who is the Director of the Children’s Hospital in San Diego, and profesional Ballet dancer Alejandro Moreno.

The list also included the General Director of the Art Museum of San Diego, Roxana Velazquez.

The ceremony was led by the Mayor of Tijuana Jorge Astiazarán, and representatives of Tijuana Innovadora, directed by Jose Galicot Behar.
