Asunción, Paraguay, 28 de diciembre de 2014.- El joven nadador Matías López (18) se adjudicó el Victoria de Oro, premio principal que otorgó la decimonovena edición de La Gran Noche del Deporte, que se realizó en el Centro de Convenciones del Mariscal Shopping.
López tuvo un año espléndido, adjudicándose medallas de oro en la prueba de los 200 metros espalda de los Juegos Odesur de Chile y en el campeonato sudamericano de mayores de Mar del Plata, habiendo clasificado además para la final de la misma especialidad en los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud, en Nanjing, China.
La natación se adjudica así por cuarto año consecutivo el premio mayor de este evento, debido a que en las ediciones 2011, 2012 y 2013, el mismo recayó en Benjamín Hockin Brusquetti.
El Victoria de Plata 2014 fue para el ajedrecista Axel Bachmann (25), campeón Iberoamericano y vencedor de cuatro torneos en Europa en la temporada.
La golfista Julieta Granada (28) se llevó el premio Victoria de Bronce. Este año se adjudicó la medalla de oro en los Juegos Odesur de Chile y volvió a los primeros planos en el campo rentado femenino.
Esta tradicional gala del deporte paraguayo, la más relevante del medio, fue organizada por Paraguay Eventos y Emprendimientos. El Jurado fue integrado por representantes del Comité Olímpico Paraguayo, la Secretaría Nacional de Deportes y el Círculo de Periodistas Deportivos del Paraguay (CPDP). Presidió el Jurado, Gabriel Cazenave, ex presidente del CPDP y actual titular de AIPS América.

Young swimmer Matías López, better Athlete of the Year 2014 in Paraguay
Asuncion, Paraguay, December 28, 2014.- The young swimmer Matías López (18) was awarded the Victoria of Gold, principal prize that granted the nineteenth edition of The Great Night of Sport, held at the Convention Center of the Mariscal Shopping.
López had a splendid year, winning gold medals in the test of the 200 meters backstroke of the Odesur Games in Chile and in the South American championship of older of Mar del Plata, having also qualified for the final of the same specialty in the Olympic Games for Youth in Nanjing, China.
The swimming thus wins for the fourth consecutive year the top prize of this event, since in the editions 2011, 2012 and 2013, it fell on Benjamin Hockin Brusquetti.
The Victoria of Silver 2014 was for the chess player Axel Bachmann (25), Iberoamerican champion and winner of four tournaments in Europe this season.
