LA HABANA, Cuba, 11 de julio de 2020.-El destacado decatlonista cubano Leonel Suárez, multimedallista olímpico y mundial, publicó un escrito en su muro de Facebook defendiendo a su coterránea Rose Mary Almanza.

Resulta que Almanza, corredora de los 800 metros planos, obtuvo el noveno lugar en el Mitin Internacional de Atletismo Herculis EBS, sexta parada de la Liga del Diamante Wanda, y varios aficionados comenzaron a criticarla en las redes sociales.

Leonel, uno de los mejores exponentes del atletismo cubano en los últimos años, escribió un texto en el que expone varias ideas y muestra su total apoyo a la camagüeyana.

PALABRAS DE LEONEL SUÁREZ

Para el conocimiento de algunas personas que tal vez no tienen toda la sabiduría para entender el deporte y en ocasiones sacan conclusiones precipitadas, les explico algunos detalles.

Los meetings internacionales y las competencias de la Liga del Diamante son competiciones que tienen un alto nivel, en ellas se logran unos excelentes resultados, mejores que en los Campeonatos Mundiales y Juegos Olímpicos.

Aquí los atletas tratan de llevar siempre su cuerpo al límite, buscan grandes resultados y prueban hasta donde llegan sus capacidades.

En muchas ocasiones lo importante no es ganar, sino saber que tan rápido puedes reaccionar al disparo, o qué tan largo o alto puedes saltar con una carrera de impulso determinada, qué tan lejos puedes lanzar con un entrenamiento de pesas de días previos, o cuanto puedes resistir a un ritmo de carreras determinado.

Por eso en ocasiones se ven varias arrancadas en falso, muchas faltas a la hora de saltar y lanzar, algunos rendimientos que no son los más idóneos o que algunos atletas pueden llegar a explotarse o fundirse como tal vez le pasó a mi amiga Rose Almanza.

En estas carreras como la de hoy son donde los atletas tienen que probarse y saber hasta dónde llegan sus capacidades.

Tal vez no fue la mejor estrategia empleada por el parcial tan rápido que tuvieron en el 400m, Sahily Diago Mesa no es especialista siendo liebre, pero esa fue la responsabilidad que le dieron.

El ritmo estuvo por encima de sus capacidades. Es bueno que le pase ahora y pueda hacer un mejor planteamiento técnico táctico en los Juegos Olímpicos.

Está carrera le servirá para que ella pueda hacer una mejor planificación. Yo tengo confianza en Rose Almanza y todavía pienso que puede darnos un alegrón.

Muchos éxitos a ella y a todos los chicos.

Almanza es una de las principales corredoras del país y en la actualidad ostenta marcas considerables para obtener una medalla en la cita de Tokio.
