La AIPS, la Asociación Internacional de Prensa Deportes llevará a cabo un programa de enseñanza del periodismo deportivo para proporcionar a los jóvenes periodistas deportivos una experiencia de entrenamiento única durante la tercera Convención de FINA (29 de noviembre al 1 de diciembre 2014) y los 12 º Campeonatos Mundiales FINA de Natación en piscina de 25 metros (3 a 7 de diciembre del 2014), en Doha, Qatar.
El Programa de Jóvenes Reporteros implicará 10 seleccionados AIPS, de 19 a 25 años de edad, jóvenes periodistas procedentes de los cinco continentes: África, América, Asia, Europa y Oceanía.
Los candidatos deben ser nominados por una Asociación Nacional miembro de la AIPS.

Programa de Jóvenes Reporteros en el 3er FINA Aquatics World Convention y 12° Campeonato de Mundial de Natación (25m), en Doha, Qatar
AIPS, la Asociación Internacional de Prensa Deportiva llevará a cabo un programa de educación sobre periodismo para proporcionar a los jóvenes periodistas deportivos una experiencia única de entrenamiento.
El programa se llevará a cabo junto con la FINA (Federación Internacional de Natación – el órgano rector mundial de natación, saltos ornamentales, clavados, waterpolo, natación sincronizada y natación en aguas abiertas- y facilitado por una serie de especialistas internacionales, junto con los medios de formación en conjunción con mentores de AIPS.
El Programa de Jóvenes Reporteros involucrará a 10 seleccionados AIPS de entre 19 a 25 años de edad, tanto periodistas profesionales jóvenes que ya están trabajando a tiempo completo en los medios de comunicación como estudiantes universitarios involucrados en estudios de periodismo. Todos los gastos, incluyendo pasajes en clase económica a Doha desde la ciudad natal del participante, alojamiento y manutención de los candidatos seleccionados serán cubiertos.
ELEMENTOS CLAVE
Se impartirá formación en impresión, fotografía y la información de los medios on line y de nuevos eventos en vivo a lo largo de la Convención, el Congreso y los campeonatos.
Todos los Jóvenes Reporteros estarán obligados a participar en todas las sesiones de entrenamiento y se les darán asignaciones de informes diarios. Se requerirá a los fotógrafos la producción de contenido escrito, de vídeo / audio, tal y como se requerirá a los periodistas de prensa escrita, que presenten trabajos escritos ilustrados con fotografías.
El seminario será en Inglés. Cada candidato deberá firmar un acuerdo que establece las condiciones de participación en el curso y el uso del material editorial producido como parte del curso.
Será proporcionada la tecnología esencial necesaria para el curso, pero será
necesario que los participantes traigan su propio equipo personal (ordenadores portátiles, grabadoras de voz, cámara de fotos digitales y cámaras de vídeo, etc), de manera a cumplir en condiciones con sus tareas.
El proyecto de siete días arrancará con una introducción a las técnicas para las coberturas periodísticas.
Los trabajos de los periodistas jóvenes serán publicados en la página web de AIPS www.aipsmedia.com, la plataforma de FINA www.fina.org y en la página oficial del campeonato mundial www.wscdoha2014.com.
Todos los reporteros jóvenes recibirán certificados de parte de AIPS y de la FINA.
FECHAS PARA LA SELECCIÓN
Todos los interesados serán bienvenidos con sus solicitudes, que se recibirán hasta el 15 de agosto. En setiembre se comunicará los nombres de los elegidos, de manera que puedan tramitar sus respectivas visas, con la colaboración del comité organizador de Doha.
El 28 de noviembre será la llegada de los periodistas jóvenes seleccionados a Doha y el 8 de diciembre será la partida de los mismos.
DETALLES DEL CURSO
Todos los jóvenes tendrán un entrenamiento especializado en varios aspectos de las coberturas periodísticas, primero en la cobertura de la convención y luego en las competencias deportivas.
De acuerdo con las preferencias de los jóvenes, estos se desempeñarán en las áreas de prensa escrita (periódicos, revistas y agencias de noticias), fotografía deportiva e internet.
El curso será solo en inglés. Las notas producidas por los jóvenes periodistas deben efectuarse en este idioma. No habrá servicio de traducción a otras lenguas.
CRITERIOS DE SELECCIÓN
Los candidatos deben tener entre 19 y 25 años, que se encuentren trabajando ya en la profesión, que sean egresados recientes o se encuentren estudiando la carrera. Todos deben estar en condiciones de hablar y escribir en inglés. AIPS podrá publicar asimismo escritos de los mismos en sus respectivas lenguas maternas.
Los candidatos deberán ser nominados por las asociaciones nacionales, con una carta que deberá ser acompañada de un breve escrito (500 palabras o menos) de los postulantes, en inglés, en el que deberán expresar “Por qué yo deseo ser elegido y cuáles son los beneficios que espero obtener con mi participación en el Programa de Periodistas Jóvenes”.
Cartas de recomendación y evidencias de trabajos periodísticos realizados en sus respectivos países ayudarán a fortalecer las candidaturas.
Los seleccionados debe asegurar estar en condiciones de viajar en las fechas marcadas, como también de estar en condiciones de participar a tiempo completo de las coberturas indicadas durante toda la duración de la convención y el campeonato mundial de piscina corta.
Cada candidato deberá demostrar poseer un seguro de viajero vigente. Deberá firmar además un contrato en el que acepta su participación en el Programa y cede sus derechos de publicación libre de los artículos o notas que realice mientras dure el curso.
Todos deben contar con pasaporte válido para realizar viajes internacionales. Una vez hecha la selección, los periodistas elegidos recibirán información acerca del procedimiento para la obtención de la visa para llegar a Qatar.
CRITERIOS ADICIONALES DE SELECCIÓN
Manejar de manera fluida el francés, el español y el árabe, además del inglés.

AIPS Young Reporters’ at the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th World FINA Swimming Championships (25m), Doha, Qatar
AIPS, the International Sports Press Association will conduct a sports journalism education programme to provide young sport reporters with a unique training experience during the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th World FINA Swimming Championships (25m), Doha, Qatar.
The programme will be conducted together with FINA, Fédération Internationale de Natation – the world governing body of swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and open water swimming and facilitated by a number of international specialists together with media training from seasoned mentors from AIPS.
The Young Reporters’ Programme will involve 10 AIPS-selected 19 to 25-year-old young Reporters from the five continents of Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania and guide them through the FINA Convention and the FINA extraordinary congress between November 29 – December 1, 2014 that will culminate with the 12th World FINA Swimming Championships between December 3-7, 2014.
Participants will include both young professional journalists already working full-time in the news media and university students engaged in journalism studies. All expenses including economy class airfares to Doha from the participant’s home city, accommodation and meals for successful candidates will be covered.
KEY ELEMENTS
Training will be offered in print, photography, and online and new media reporting of live events throughout the Convention, Congress and the championships. All Young Reporters will be required to participate in all training sessions and will be given daily reporting assignments – photographers will be required the produce written and video/audio content just as written journalists will be required to photograph.
The seminar will be in English. Each successful candidate must sign an agreement setting out the conditions of course participation and the use of editorial material produced as part of the coursework.
Essential technology needed for the course will be provided, but participants will be required to bring their own personal equipment (laptop computers, voice recorders, digital photo and video cameras, etc.), as they seem fit to fulfill their assignments. The 7-day project begins with an introduction to sports reporting and the techniques of covering the convention and congress. The first assignment will be to cover the 3rd FINA convention and conference on November 29.
Coursework will include basic elements of event coverage, writing, interviewing, photos and video, and the Internet. Each Young Journalist must participate in all facets of the programme.
There will be opportunities for assigned stories, photos and video to be published on the AIPS website www.aipsmedia.com, the FINA platform www.fina.org and the championship website www.wscdoha2014.com.
All Young Reporters will receive assessments of their work throughout the course and an AIPS and FINA Certificate of Participation on completion.
SELECTION TIMELINE
All interested individuals are welcome to apply until August 15; August 19-26th applications will be reviewed by AIPS.
Successful applicants will be notified early September and will subsequently commence the visa application process with the assistance of the 2014 FINA world championships Organising Committee.
November 28, 2014, the Selected Young Journalists arrive in Doha; December 8, the Young Journalists will depart Doha.
COURSE DETAILS
All the Young Reporters will undertake both general and specialised training in various aspects of sports reporting covering a convention, a congress as well as a swimming event. The course will look at what makes a good sports story, how to tell it informatively and entertainingly, when to look for more background detail and why accuracy and fairness still remain the cornerstone of sports reporting.
According to their specific interests, participants will specialize in areas of media such as print reporting (newspaper, magazine and agency), news and sports photography and Internet/new media.
Stories, photographs, audio and video packages will be published within the AIPS,
FINA and 2014 FINA world championship sites and will be freely available, without rights, to media organizations worldwide. There will also be the opportunity for stories to be used by the participant’s FINA Member Association and media organizations for publication in their home countries and regions.
Training and course work will be undertaken in English only. Translation and interpretation will not be available.
AIPS SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be between the ages of 19 and 25 already working in the media. Recent university graduates working as interns or in similar training roles in established news organizations will also be considered. Applicants must be proficient in writing and presenting news reports in English. AIPS will publish news items in the participants’ mother tongue as well as in English.
Candidates must be nominated by an AIPS member National Association. Each candidate must submit a short essay in English (500 words or less) on “Why I wish to be selected and what benefits I expect to gain from participation in the AIPS Young Reporters’ Programme, 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th World FINA Swimming Championships (25m), Doha, Qatar.”
Strong supporting references and evidence of published work will be an advantage. Candidates must be able to travel on the required dates and be available to partake, full time, in the complete course over the duration of the Championships. Each successful candidate must provide evidence of a current travel insurance policy.
Candidates must be willing to sign an agreement form setting out the conditions of their participation in the AIPS Young Reporters’ Programme, which will include copyright free usage of their course content.
Candidates must have a valid passport for international travel. Upon selection they will receive the necessary documents from the 3rd FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th World FINA Swimming Championships (25m), Doha, Qatar Organizing Committee for their visa. The final decision on the suitability of nominated candidates remains with AIPS.
Final successful candidates will be chosen by the AIPS Bureau.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Fluency in French, Spanish and/or Arabic (in addition to English) will be considered an asset.
