Cali, Colombia, 25 de agosto de 2014.- «La Federación de Periodistas Deportivos de América, AIPS América, ha distinguido al Centro de Prensa de los Juegos Mundiales Cali 2013 como el mejor de América ese año, teniendo como base los servicios prestados a los representantes de los medios de comunicación durante la realización del evento orbital».

Con esta apreciación, Farid Barbosa, jefe de Prensa de The World Games 2013 Cali, enuncia lo que significó la labor realizada en la capital vallecaucana.

«La decisión que determina este reconocimiento (premio AIPS América 2013) es una exaltación a una seria planeación soportada por el trabajo de muchas personas, que empezó en el 2009 cuando se dieron los primeros pasos para la consecución de la sede para la capital deportiva de América. La elección de la prensa deportiva de América, a través de los países asociados en el continente, distinguió con ello el trabajo de una región caracterizada por el liderazgo deportivo», sostiene Barbosa.

El comunicador recopila así la labor realizada: «La postulación es realizada por Carlos Julio Castellanos, presidente de Acord Colombia, nuestra agremiación a nivel nacional. El reconocimiento concedido al alcalde de Cali, Rodrigo Guerrero: ‘Juegos Mundiales Mejor evento del 2013’ en los premios Acord Colombia, el pasado 4 de diciembre en el hotel Sheraton en Bogotá, fue el corchete que señaló la exhortación para el Centro de Prensa de los Juegos».

Recuerda que «dos años atrás, en febrero del 2011 en Bucaramanga, se había sembrado la semilla durante la celebración del Congreso de la Asociación Internacional de la Prensa Deportiva del continente, AIPS América. En ese suceso periodístico, con el asentimiento de Acord Colombia, los representantes de la prensa deportiva de 15 países, así como los presidentes de 22 regionales de Acord en todo el país, pudieron conocer a través de una significativa presentación, la forma como Cali se preparaba para recibir a la prensa de cara a los Juegos Mundiales».

Y precisa: «Como jefe de prensa de este proceso, debo reconocer que la distinción alcanzada es el producto del esfuerzo de muchas personas que con dificultades en los primeros 3 años y a pesar de las tempestades, supieron mantener el barco en alta mar. También de quienes llegaron en la fase final y consolidaron una planeación que sobrellevó al lucimiento de las justas».

Y sintetiza los alcances: «Potencialmente, el reconocimiento magnifica las entidades que cristalizaron el sueño deportivo de una ciudad, en una realidad nacional; Coldeportes y la Alcaldía de Cali les dieron desde el 25 de enero del 2012 el aval definitivo, cuando el presidente de nuestro país, doctor Juan Manuel Santos, aprobó los recursos económicos que le dieron viabilidad a las justas».

Por todo esto, el Jefe de Prensa de las Justas Mundialistas de Cali también enaltece al «Comité Olímpico Colombiano, que materializó el proyecto para poder dar cumplimiento a la hoja de ruta».

Al finalizar su exhortación, Barbosa exaltó «a los 19 audaces periodistas que en las últimas semanas de los juegos fueron los protagonistas oficiales, a través de un convenio con Acord Colombia, para entregar la información desde cada campeonato; a ellos les corresponde advertir con orgullo que también forman parte del triunfo concedido».
