Apreciados miembros del comité ejecutivo de AIPS América y de las asociaciones nacionales.
Asunto: Comunicado de AIPS acerca de Renovación de Comisiones

Habrán recibido el día de ayer un comunicado de AIPS que habla acerca del proceso de renovación en la integración de sus comisiones. El texto original, en inglés (ver aquí), lo tenemos, en adjunto, traducido al español (ver aquí), conforme la política de comunicación bilingüe vigente en AIPS América.
En representación del comité ejecutivo de AIPS América, deseamos aprovechar este contacto para realizar algunos comentarios a propósito de este tema.
Hace unas semanas, como saben, AIPS América realizó un sondeo para cuantificar la presencia femenina en las asociaciones nacionales, solictando a la vez candidaturas para la nueva comisión femenina de AIPS, por indicación de su vicepresidenta Layma Janusonyte.
Hemos hecho la selección, a través de la intervención de un jurado y, hemos comunicado a Layma la nominación de Lisette Hernández (Nicaragua) y Esperanza Batallas (Ecuador) como representantes 1 y 2 del continente ante el nuevo organismo auxiliar.
En vista de esta comunicación, que resalta la potestad de las asociaciones nacionales de postular a candidatos a todas las comisiones, incluyendo la femenina, no tenemos certeza de que esa tarea realizada en tiempo y en forma, de modo absolutamente responsable por AIPS América, cuente hoy con el respaldo oficial de AIPS.
No estamos en contra de la autonomía de las asociaciones para elevar propuestas en forma directa a AIPS, pero sí nos ponemos a reflexionar en cuanto a la verdadera razón de ser de las secciones continentales.
Ya hemos manifestado nuestra inquietud con relación a la falta de consideración hacia AIPS América en la integración de los grupos beneficiados con el programa de Jóvenes Reporteros de AIPS.
Es por ello que sometemos a consideración de las asociaciones nacionales una propuesta para que sin desmedro de la autonomía que estas tienen por reglamento para realizar postulaciones a miembros de estas comisiones, las mismas sean comunicadas primero a AIPS América y que sea esta la que eleve en su conjunto la propuesta americana a AIPS.
Estamos convencidos de que de esta forma daremos muestras de cohesión y a la vez de fuerza, que nos ayude a sostener nuestras ideas en estos y otros asuntos.

Dear members of the executive committee of AIPS America and of the national associations
Subject: Communiqué of AIPS about renewal of Commissions
You will have received yesterday a communiqué from AIPS talking about the process of renewal in the integration of its commissions. The original text, in English (here), we have in attachment, translated into Spanish (here), according the bilingual communication policy in effect at AIPS America.
On behalf of the the executive committee of AIPS America, we want to take advantage of this contact to make some comments about this topic.
A few weeks ago, as you know, AIPS America conducted a survey to quantify the female presence in national associations, while requesting nominations for the new female commission of AIPS, as indicated by his vice president Layma Janusonyte.
We’ve made ??the selection, through the intervention of a jury, and have communicated to Layma the nomination of Lisette Hernandez (Nicaragua) and Esperanza Batallas (Ecuador) as representatives 1 and 2 of the continent to the new auxiliary organism.
In view of this communication, which emphasizes the power of the national associations to nominate candidates for all fees, including the women, we have no certainty that the work done in time and form, in a way entirely responsible by AIPS America, count today with the official support of AIPS.
We are not against the autonomy of the associations for submit proposals directly to AIPS, but we start to think about the real reason for being of the continental sections.
We have expressed our restlessness regarding the lack of consideration for AIPS America in the integration of groups that benefit from the program Young Reporters of AIPS.
This is why we submit for consideration of the national associations a proposal so that while maintaining the autonomy that these have by regulation to make nominations for members of these commissions, the same will be communicated first to AIPS America and that this be the one that raises in a whole, the american proposal to AIPS.
We are convinced that in this way we will give samples of cohesion and besides of strength, to help us to sustain our ideas on these and other matters.
