Caracas alberga el mayor campeonato internacional de baloncesto varonil en la presente temporada, el torneo premundial FIBA Americas 2013 que se extenderá hasta el miércoles 11 del corriente mes.

La justa reserva cuatro cupos a los mejores de los diez equipos intervinientes en la gran cita, para el mundial de España 2014.
Más allá de los aspectos que atañen concretamente a la competencia en sí, de la que se da una cobertura intensa en diferentes medios audiovisuales, escritos y telemáticos que abarcan más de un centenar con cobertura directa in situ, cabe resaltar la excelente infraestructura ofrecida por Venezuela para que la competición en sí y la tarea de los comunicadores se cumpla de la mejor manera y con todas las facilidades y comodidades que ofrece la tecnología de avanzada sobre la que se sustenta.
El monumental estadio Poliedro, ubicado en la zona de La Rinconada de la capital venezolana, que en el 2012 fue sede de un repechaje olímpico, cuenta con instalaciones de primer mundo para que pueda ser efectiva, instantanea y facil la tarea que compete al periodismo.
Una sala de prensa muy bien montada, con informativos estadísticos permanentes e inmediatos al termino de cada cuarto de cada partido que se juega, se pone al servicio de los comunicadores.
Caracas ha sabido constituirse como una gran anfitriona, cuidando que ningun detalle por más mínimo que fuere, interfiera la labor de hombres y mujeres de prensa dedicados a la misión informativa.
También, aprovechando el primer día libre, que discurrió entre el término de la primera fase y el comienzo de la segunda del campeonato, la organización venezolana ofreció un magnifico tour que se prolongó durante el día.
Los periodistas acreditados para el certamen, se concentraron en el hotel Alba bien temprano en la mañana, siendo conducidos a los lugares históricos del casco antiguo de la ciudad, donde se pudo apreciar la gran obra de restauración y conservación de sitios históricos como la casa del libertador Simón Bolivar y el Cuartel de la Montaña, donde reposan los restos del ex presidente Hugo Chávez.
Tras el almuerzo servido en el hotel Alba se completó el periplo con el impresionante ascenso en teleférico al majestuoso monte Ávila, de 2.100 metros de altura, desde donde se aprecia una maravillosa vista de la urbe, incluida la costa marítima cercana.
En el torneo, pudimos compartir con muchos colegas de diversas latitudes que se han dado cita a tan trascendente evento. Lo que más nos emocionó y gratamente, fue el reencuentro con un querido comunicador argentino, fundador y director de la Revista Rebote, medio exclusivamente baloncéstico, que está muy próximo a cumplir medio siglo de ininterrumpida vigencia.
José López es el periodista argentino y sudamericano con más coberturas que ningún otro en eventos internacionales baloncésticos. La colección completa de 46 años de su revista está en el Museo de la FIBA. Con 82 años de edad, el entrañable amigo Lopecito, figura como el más antiguo periodista entre quienes están trabajando en la cobertura del certamen.
Se conserva con una envidiable salud y sigue siendo un verdadero oráculo en los momentos de tregua que ofrece la competencia, cuando empieza a recordar con matemática precisión, hechos y anécdotas de la rica historia del baloncesto de su país y el continente, concentrando la atención de los colegas. Es el más longevo periodista especializado vigente y un libro abierto de consulta.
Otro veterano seguidor del baloncesto, es el comentarista de Radio La Red de Santa Fe, José Miguel Grandinetti, otra figura respetada y apreciada de vasta trayectoria.
El baloncesto sirvió una vez más para acercar a periodistas de las más diversas latitudes y en el caso de la Argentina, para propiciar una cadena de medios unidos del interior, encabezados por el relator Ricardo Luis Pérez de Santa Rosa, La Pampa.
Dejamos constancia de nuestra gratitud a los colegas venezolanos y a la organización local de este campeonato premundial de baloncesto, por tantas muestras de afecto y tan grata acogida que nos han brindado.

BASKETBALL: Venezuela provides a pleasant welcome to the nternational press

Caracas is home of the largest international men’s basketball championship in the current season, the 2013 FIBA Americas pre-World Championship tournament, that will run until Wednesday 11 of the current month.
The joust reserves four quotas to the best of the ten teams involved in the big event for the 2014 World Cup of Spain.
Beyond the aspects that are particular to competition itself, from which is given an intense coverage in different audiovisual medias, written and telematics that covering over a hundred with direct coverage on site, it is worth noting the excellent facilities offered by Venezuela so that the competition itself, and the task of journalists be fulfilled in the best way and with all the facilities and amenities that offer the advanced technology on which it is based.
The monumental stadium Poliedro, located in the area of La Rinconada in the Venezuelan capital, which in 2012 hosted an Olympic playoff , has first world facilities in order to be effective, instant and easy the task that concerns to the journalism.
A press room nicely mounted with permanent and immediate statistical information at the end of every quarter of every game that is played, is at the service of communicators.

Also, taking advantage of the first day off, which ran between the end of the first phase and the beginning of the second of the championship, the Venezuelan organization offered a magnificent tour that extended throughout the day.
The journalists accredited for the event, were concentrated in the Alba hotel early in the morning, being driven to the historic sites of the old quarter of the city, where you could appreciate the great work of restoration and preservation of historical sites such as the house of the liberator Simón Bolivar and the Cuartel de la Montaña, where lie the remains of former President Hugo Chávez.

In the tournament, we could share with many colleagues from different latitudes that have gathered to so transcendent event. What most thrilled us and pleasantly, was the reencounter with a beloved argentine communicator, founder and director of the Rebote Magazine, medium exclusively about basketball, which is very close to fulfilling a half century of uninterrupted term.
José López is the argentine and south american journalist with more coverages than any other in international events of basketball. The complete collection of 46 years of his magazine is in the Museum of the FIBA. With 82 years old, the close friend Lopecito, figure as the oldest journalist among those who are working in the coverage of the event.
He retains with an enviable health and still is a true oracle in the moments of truce that offered by the competition, when he begins to remember with mathematical precision, facts and anecdotes about the rich history of basketball of his country and the continent, concentrating the attention of the colleagues. He is the most long-lived specialized journalist in force and an open book of consultation.
Another veteran follower of basketball, is the commentator for Radio La Red of Santa Fe, José Miguel Grandinetti, another figure respected and appreciated of vast experience.
The basketball once again served to get together journalists from different latitudes and in the case of Argentina, to propitiate a chain of medias united of the interior, led by the narrator Ricardo Luis Pérez of Santa Rosa, La Pampa.
